Hello, As mentioned in the TechNet article, the 32-bit version of Office 2010 provides the same functionality and is also compatible with 32-bit add-ins. Therefore, the 32-bit version of Office 2010 is installed by default.

Hi: HP doesn't have anything to do with it. It's Microsoft. They must have crippled the install. Why they haven't completely removed it, is beyond me. Why they just don't offer it as a free download is beyond me. If they want people to buy a version of Office, they have made it difficult by only allowing one installation of Office 2010. Lots of folks make mistakes and uninstall things, or have to do a system recovery, or even buy a new hard drive.

It doesn't appear there is anything we can do about it. Paul Microsoft Starter 2010 came installed on my G6 Pavilion Notebook and has been working fine. I did do a system restore. I have tried the repair procedure in the control panel. Now when I launch Microsoft Starter 2010, it 'hangs up'.

HI Guys, I agree it is frustrating not able to get back the starter edition that was pre-loaded with your PC. I too faced the same problem when upgraded to Windows 8.
